Hi everyone, new to the site. Can I put in a 20 x 40 for $30,000? This could be half DIY, or all, or all subcontractor. My pool kit has been priced out anywhere from $18,000-$20,000. That leaves about $10,000 for dig, footing, build, electician, pool bottom, liner install, backfill and maybe concrete decking if any left.
I think that might be a pretty aggressive target price for 2022, but it may not be impossible if you have a buddy with a backhoe and live in a more rural area. Check out our article on How To Build Your Own Pool (though that talks more about a gunite pool) and How Much Does a Pool Cost? 93 Real-World Examples. Living close to a city would increase the cost- and note that the articles I linked are from 2016.
There are a number of creative options out there for pools - above-ground pools (which can be semi-inground if you get the right one), fiberglass pools, plunge pools (think of it as an oversized hot tub), and even pools made from old shipping containers.
I think that might be a pretty aggressive target.
