Bypassing pop-up heads.

I have a Pentair Easytouch pool system with a magnasweep automated pool cleaner.  The automated pop-up heads are not working well.  I want to just disable the pop-ups and plug in my older Hayward cleaner.  The Hayward cleaner doesn’t move at full motion but i believe it’s because the pump is running in a variable speed mode.  Do I need to adjust the pump to run at a higher speed and the cleaner with run in full motion?

Hello jthomascox- First, let me address the elephant in the room. The majority of your pop-up cleaning system and pool cleaner issues can be attributed to the variable speed pump. Variable speed pumps are excellent energy savers in their slower speeds. The downside is the pop-ups and pool cleaners require certain flow rate in order for them to operate with efficiency. When the variable speed pumps are running on the slower speeds, the flow rate is too low. It is not a bad idea to run your VS pump on a high speed for a few hours a day for optimal cleaner or pop-up efficiency. You can program most VS pumps to do this on a daily basis.

Thank you so much for your reply.  Do you know what the maximum RPM speed is for the pump to be running in full mode?  Do you think I should keep the pop-up heads and the Hayward cleaner working?  Or should I just disable the heads?
