Just installed a brand new century 2 hp pump and after about 30 mins will shut off due to over heating and will come back on in about 10 mins and run for 10 mins shut off over and over. Where should I look to remedy this issue ?
There could be a couple issues. Your original 2hp motor may have been full rated and your new 2hp motor is uprated. If that’s the case, your impeller would be oversized and that would cause the motor to overheat.
Another issue could be low or high voltage. You’d have to test the input voltage and see if it is within 10% of the listed voltage on the motor label.
I installed the exact same brand and hp rating motor, could there still be a difference hp rating?
The HP could be the same but the total HP rating could be different. What was the model number of your old motor and what is the model number of the new motor?
You replaced your old motor with the exact same model. We can rule that out as being an issue. The next steps may involve hiring an electrician. The supply voltage may be spiking and causing the motor to shut off or it may be a bad relay.
where are the relays located? in the control box or are you talking about the breakers?
It could be a relay in a control box or a breaker at the electrical panel.
i will check the control, i have already checked the breakers they are working as they should and supplying the correct amount of voltage to the controller. Can resistance in the motor wiring cause the over heating issue?
There can be resistance in the motor wiring that can cause overheating.

OK, so i replaced the new pump motor with a brand new one again. it was working and running at a good pressure but then the motor shut off and geysered water from the pool skimmer to the point it blew the lid off and the basket out. I am lost and i dont know where to even begin diagnosing this issue. By the way just in case this helps get me where i need to go, the spa connected to the pool is running full force and there is only one jet in pool running(the cleaner jet). It is in pool mode when this is happening.
HELP!!! please
Water will shoot out of the skimmer when the pump shuts off because of air build-up in the filter. This air could have entered the system when the motor was replaced. You can try bleeding the air when you restart the pump. If the water geyser continues, you’ll want to look for an air leak.

There’s a switch inside go from 220 to 120 solved our problem.
