Hi, Can anyone tell me the motor bearings needed for a Hayward Tristar SP3200X pump. The motor hearings are bad (squeaking loudly). Motor is Century SP3200Z1BE. Thanks for any hlep.
It’s a little hard to say for sure, but the current version of that motor takes 2 of these 6203 bearings. Your motor is older (made in Mexico) and the current version, made in China, takes the 6203’s. They are probably the same but I can’t guarantee it.
We would highly recommend getting a new Tristar seal kit for a leak-free repair when you replace the bearings. Most of the o-rings can flatten out over time and may not seal properly if reinstalled. A new motor shaft seal is in the kit to keep the new bearings nice and dry.
Great. Thanks for the information and help. Not sure if its worth changing the bearings in the motor or just ordering a new motor. Do you know the new equivalent motor model that would fit. This was was 2.0 hp with a SF 1.35 = 2.7 hp but this model has been discontinued.
We are happy to help! There are a couple of options for the motor:
The B2843 motor is 2.6 total horsepower (see Are All Motors Created Equal? for an explanation) and would be a perfect replacement, or the variable-speed NPTQ270 motor would also work, and it would save you a lot on your electric bill if you can turn the speed down a bit. Some states (NY and CA) are now requiring variable-speed pool pump motors and some utility companies are offering rebates on them if you switch.
