Aquacal model 145AHDSBPB. After starting the unit back up after a year I got the clock low battery error. I took the battery out and it tested good. I replaced it anyways and I still get the error code. I performed a factory reset but that didn’t fix it either. The heating light will come on but the compressor doesn’t turn on. I’m thinking the circuit board is bad but I’d like some advice before dropping $450 on a new board. Thanks
Where did you get the battery from? I’ve had some “new” batteries come in and test fine on a meter but they couldn’t cut the mustard in the controller. Maybe purchase another battery from a different source to be 110% sure that isn’t the issue.
Be sure the contacts on the battery holder are clean and exercise/clean any other connectors on the board.
Having said that, the battery is mainly there to remember the settings when the power is off, but be sure the other connections are intact and clean before trying a new board. Check the relay as well - maybe it is powered but the coil is burned out.
I swapped another brand battery into the board and no more error code. The compressor comes on and everything works normally. Who would have thought that a watch battery would keep the compressor from turning on. Thank you so much Rich! You saved me a ton of money!
I’m always happy to recommend trying the cheap fixes first, and I’m glad to hear that it worked!! Enjoy your toasty warm (or at least not ice cold) pool!
Too bad you can’t get a kerosene pool heater (see what I did there)?
hahaha thanks again sir! I love this forum and the company. Definitely buying more products from ya’ll in the future.
