Hi, I have a Speck E90-I pump motor (AO Smith p/n 7-193530-20) that is single voltage 115v. Is it possible to rewire this motor to run at 230v? This motor doesnt have a capacitor like my old dual voltage Speck motor currently wired for 230v. The internal wiring on this motor is terminal 1-yellow/blk (L1), 2-no terminal, 3-no wire, 4-red, 5- yellow & blue wires, 6-white (return).
Hi Phoenix, I am sorry to say that there is no way to wire a 115 volt motor to 230 volts unless it has a little voltage selector switch inside it (generally located on the motor wiring terminal block). Other than the gauge of the wire, there is no major advantage to switching to 230 volts.
Thanks. While i brought both 115v and 230v to the pool site, My pump timer is wired for 230v. As a last resort i could use a cheap plug in timer for 115v. Im going to try to fix my 230v by replacing the bearings, replace the rusted housing using the one from the 115v motor and replace all the snapped 9" bolts. Anyone one know a good source for a pack of bolts?
You may be able to just use 1 leg of power rather than get an additional timer. Just be sure to safely remove the additional wire from the timer so there is no stray hot wire.
We have some motor thru-bolts here. Let me know if the Thru-Bolt, 8-32 X 9" (2" thread) will work and I’ll send you a quote for them.
