winter cover on top of safety cover?

I have one of the green safety covers for my inground pool. It’s getting old and has a few holes in it. Ever since it’s been new even, the water is deep dark green and lots of sludge, millipedes and other bugs on the bottom of the pool when we open it in spring. Should I get a winter cover instead? Or put one on top of the safety cover?

Hello Sarah1 - We would recommend removing the old safety cover and replacing it with either a winter cover or safety cover.

You’ll probably want to match the anchor points if you decide on another safety cover. In that case, you would have to send your cover in and we would make a custom cover to match your strap spacing. For that, you will need to fill out a custom safety cover form and email that to upload@inyopools.com.

Thanks. I just found a safety cover mate. It floats on the water under the safety cover and prevents sunlight and dirt from getting in the pool. I’m going to try that first since it’s $1000s cheaper than just ordering another safety cover. I had the the problem when the safety cover was new, so I don’t know how getting another new one would actually going to help.

Sarah1 - A new one wouldn’t/shouldn’t have holes. Good luck with the cover mate!

My neighbor also had installed safety covers which do had provided them with a tight and secure pool that lines up flush with your decking or patio stone.
