Sharing a tip.

Thanks in advance for having a website user friendly enough that I could find the spider gasket I needed when our local pool supply couldn’t.  This is to share a trick I came up with years ago. Cleaning pump filter basket was always a chore due to bugs, trash, hair, etc. clogging the openings. I installed two small machine bolts w/nuts 180degrees apart at he top of the basket on the sides. I used SS to prevent rusting. The bolts are installed from the inside to leave part of the bolt sticking out approximately 1/4". I then take a section of my wife’s old pantyhose with a knot in one end and place it in the basket with the open end stretched over the top of the basket and hooked on the bolts. Works like a charm. Now I simply unhook and pull out the old section, throw it away and replace it with a new one. Takes just a second to do and no more clogged openings in the basket. One word of caution though. Don’t let it go too long without replacing the pantyhose section. It works so well that it will actually catch enough trash to stop the water flow enough to cave in the basket. Bought experience is the best teacher! Will post pictures if anyone needs them to understand the concept. Thanks again.

Hello Machinist - Thank you for the tip. We love hearing ideas from homeowners. Please post some pictures if you can.

This not the basket I described above. I replaced the Jacuzzi motor/pump I had with a Pentair. The basket in the Pentair has a convenient place to hook the pantyhose on the ends of the handle. It works just as well as the machine bolts. Sorry, I couldn’t get the pics in the order I wanted them in, but you get the idea. The machine bolts in the old basket were just a little higher than the bottom of the handle in the pic below.

Those are very useful pictures. Thank you for taking the time to post on our forum and for helping other do-it-yourselfers!
