Pool Pump Tripping Breaker, Possible Blown Motor Replacement?

Hi. My model C48K2N143B1 tripped the circuit breaker yesterday. I reset the breaker and threw the time switch. It began sparking and tripped again. I went about cleaning the filter and reset the breaker again. When I turned it on again it began sparking and smoking tripping the breaker again. Might the motor be blown? Which replacement and gasket kit will I need? Thank you.

Hi Willm1e61,

Yes it does sound like your motor has gone bad and based on the part # you supplied you would require the UST1102 1 HP Replacement Motor the most common pump that the UST1102 motor fits onto is the Hayward Super Pump and if this is the pump you have then you will need this Hayward Super Pump Seal Kit If you do not have a Hayward Super Pump then could you post a photo of your pump to this thread please take a wide shot showing the plumbing going in and out of the pump. I have listed instructions below on how to post a photo. Finally here is a Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful.

Thank You

Patrick
