If i am only running the filtration from my pool pump do I need a variable speed pump or would a 2 speed work just fine?

Either option will work, normally you will save more money on your operational cost with a variable speed pump vs. a dual speed pump. The dual speed pump can operate at two speeds 1725 RPM’s or 3450 RPM’s where the variable speed pump can be dialed into any RPM between 1725 and 3450 so the variable speed pump gives you more flexibility. If you live in an area where you have expensive electricity and you run your pool pump year round then I normally suggest a variable speed pump.
