I’m replacing my perplex 65 DE with 2 hp pump with a verticle DE. My pool has 32,000 gallons of water. What size do I need to get?
Hi Steven,
My suggestion is the Hayward EC75A Perflex Filter I like this filter as it is a little bit bigger than you current filter meaning you will put less stress on your motor resulting in longer motor life. This also results in less time between cleanings.
Thank You
Patrick
Too many bolts to clean these filters. I’m going with the verticle DE. What size is appropriate.
Steven,
I definitely like the vertical grid design over the Perflex, the only reason I suggested the Perflex as it is a drop in replacement to your old filter meaning no re-plumbing. If you are okay with a bit of re-plumbing then the vertical DE filter is the way to go, as you mentioned not all those bolts. The big downside to the DE Finger style filter is when you need to replace all the DE Fingers you are looking at a price tag which is nearly the price of the complete filter and this is not the case with the vertical grid de filters.
For your pool, I would suggest the Hayward DE6020 60 Sq. Ft. DE Filter and you will also need a SP0715XR50 2" Multiport Valve.
Thank you for all your help.
You’re Welcome Steven, let us know how it goes.
Installed in about 2 hours once I got pipe parts from home depot. Worked great within first 36 hours. Pool is crystal clear. I have been fighting with the perplex for a couple of years, and now the verticle grid runs the vacuum, pool cleaner, etc. great all day long. I wish I did this a couple of years ago. Thanks again.
StevenT,
That is great news! Thanks so much for posting back we love to hear back on these installs. If you have any photos can you post back to this thread? Have a great summer.
Thank You
Patrick
