pentair rainbow r171096 automatic chlorinator w/black lock ring and snap lock

first time recharging the chlorinator, followed the instructions removed the black lock ring and cap. water overflowed. i did read that this may happen when the unit’s seal is broken.  however, after replacing the black lock ring, the snap lock was extremely loose, if anyone has this unit, do i just push it back into place?  my second question is the water level was still full when i replaced everything, should i lower that level before restarting the system.

thanks

Hi Nathan,

I’m not 100% sure on the black lock ring but I believe you just push it back into place. There is no need to lower the water when restarting the chlorinator, the more common problem is that the chlorinator does not fill with water and the chlorine tablets don’t melt.

Thank You

Patrick
