I have an old gunite pool that has a heavy build up of calcium I believe. I want to empty the pool, clean, and repaint. What is the best way to do this and what is the best paint to use? Thank you, Jim
Hello JamesCasavant - As far as the draining, we have a guide on “How to Drain an In-Ground Pool”. Note: Ingorund gunite pools should have a hydrostatic release valve in the main drain. This is usually installed in places where the water table is high. This should be removed before draining the pool. If the valve is not removed there is a chance the pool shell could float out of the ground.
The paint we recommend is epoxy paint. This is the most durable paint available for pools. Check out our guide on “How to Paint a Pool with Epoxy Paint”. Hopefully this will answer most of your questions.
