I had a slow leak out of my backwash pipe and I then replaced my spider gasket and waited overnight. Started up the pump the following morning and I still have the leak. I have two questions. First, what else could cause the leak? Weak spring? I have a Praher sm-10-3 valve which is about 12 years old. Second, I have a Triton II TR60 sand filter. Could I put a Hayward multi port valve on that or must I use a Pentair product? If I can use a Hayward valve, which one is best?
Hi Richard134,
Other items that could be causing your leak are the spring, the valve cover or the valve to filter connection. You could not put a Hayward Valve on your Pentair Triton II TR60 filter. My suggestion would be to replace the top half of your SM-10-3 valve with this SM-10-3 Upper Valve Assembly note that this part does not come with a spider gasket. Here is the Spider Gasket for SM-10-3 if you need it.
Thank You
Patrick
