I have a rectangular satlwater pool with 18700 gallons 3 -1/4" dia. spitters a FNSP-36 D.E. filter. What type Whisperflow or Hayward do you recommend and what size?

This pump could be run on a low speed when you want to circulate the water and then on a higher speed when you need to vacuum or backwash.
