56Y on a Hayward

A friend runs a summer camp, it’s 97 degrees and her pump motor has departed this life.  Panicked, she ordered the first thing that looked like a motor - it’s a 56Y square flange.  Problem is it’s a Hayward Super Pump, C-face.  Told her it won’t work but she insists it’s just like the old one and is awaiting delivery.  I’m wise enough now to give up arguing logically with someone as stubborn as I am, so… is there ANY scenario under which a square flange motor replaces or can be modified to replace the old UST1102?  Hoping if she hears it from this community she’ll abandon the notion that I’m nuts and just need a bigger hammer, lol.  Many thanks!

Hi Ragwrite,

I hate to say it but you are not going to be able to get that 56Y square flange motor to fit onto the Super Pump. This UST1102 1 HP Replacement Motor is the correct motor for the Super Pump. I would suggest ordering the UST1102 today so we can get shipped out right away and then contact customer support about setting up a return for the 56Y motor. Your account of this is too Funny as this sounds like my house =).

Thank You

Patrick
